The Department of MCA organised a Guest Lecture on “Network Security Threats and Defense Mechanisms” on 21st January 2026, delivered by Ms. Sangeetha Sangangouda Dambala, Data Engineer at State Street Global Advisors, Bengaluru. The session introduced students to the fundamentals of computer networks and emphasised the importance of secure data communication in modern digital systems.

The speaker explained various network security threats and vulnerabilities commonly encountered in real world industry environments. She discussed essential defense mechanisms such as firewalls, encryption techniques, and secure communication protocols through practical examples.

The talk highlighted the relevance of secure network design, monitoring practices, and best practice guidelines for building robust networked systems. Students were exposed to how networking concepts play a crucial role in cloud platforms and data-driven environments.
