Alumni Talk 2025-2026
Cloud, Git and Networking: Building the Foundation for Modern IT Careers
The Department of MCA organised an Alumni Talk titled “Cloud, Git & Networking: Building the Foundation for Modern IT Careers” to introduce students to key concepts in cloud computing, version control, and networking fundamentals on 13 January 2026.
The session was delivered by Mr. Girish R, Associate Cloud Consultant at Spektra Systems, Bengaluru. He shared insights from his experience working with AWS and Azure cloud services and in implementing scalable enterprise architectures. The talk began with an overview of cloud service models such as SaaS and PaaS, along with core offerings in compute, storage, database, and networking.
Mr. Girish explained cloud architecture basics through real-world examples and highlighted concepts such as Azure storage redundancy and the Shared Responsibility Model. Students also learned about Git and GitHub fundamentals, including repositories, commits, branching, and workflow practices used in collaborative development. The session emphasised how Git supports efficient version control and team-based software engineering.
Networking fundamentals were covered through explanations of DNS, IP addressing, and how communication occurs across distributed systems. The interactive Q&A session allowed students to clarify doubts on cloud migration, Git workflows, DNS behaviour, and troubleshooting scenarios. Real-time discussions helped students apply concepts related to cloud service selection, workflow analysis, and network communication.
The resource person also offered guidance on skill-building for careers in cloud, DevOps, and networking roles. Overall, the session strengthened students’ foundational understanding of modern IT infrastructure and prepared them for industry-oriented learning.
