INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO AKSHAYA PATRA FOUNDATION - ISKCON.

On February 27th 2025, the Department of Master of Computer Applications at New Horizon College of Engineering organized a visit to Akshaya Patra, ISKCON for 1st Semester MCA students. The Akshaya Patra Foundation, an initiative of ISKCON Bangalore, aims to provide mid-day meals to underprivileged children in rural schools, supporting their education.

Guided by the vision, “No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger”, the foundation began in June 2000, serving 1,500 children in Bangalore. Today, it reaches over 1.76 million children daily across 42 locations in 12 states of India. Recognized as the world’s largest NGO-run mid-day meal program, Akshaya Patra continues to make a significant impact on a child’s nutrition and education.

Mr. Ankit Mishra, Program Coordinator, provided insights into the kitchen infrastructure, daily operations, IoT implementation, and meal production statistics. Students attended an interactive session by the Youth Empowerment Club and FOLK. The kitchen uses advanced equipment for cooking rice, sambar, and ragi balls, enhancing efficiency.

IoT technology is implemented for smart temperature checks and GPS tracking of food vehicles. High-grade stainless-steel utensils ensures food hygiene. Students gained insights into technology’s role in the Food Industry, Management, and Coordination. The visit fostered intercultural collaboration and emphasized personal growth.
