SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Workshop on Building Reliable and Scalable Systems with DevOps

The Department of MCA, in association with CSI and Automatez, organised a workshop on Building Reliable and Scalable Systems with DevOps. The session aimed to introduce participants to DevOps principles, automation, continuous integration, and deployment strategies. It focused on bridging development, and operations for efficient and resilient software delivery.

The resource person was Mr Prathith, a DevOps Engineer at TCS with expertise in cloud migration and CI/CD automation. He has hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and Ansible. He is also a postgraduate in Computer Applications and an IEEE research paper author.

The session began with an introduction to DevOps, its evolution, and its importance in modern software delivery. Mr Prathith emphasised faster delivery, improved reliability, and scalability through DevOps practices. He explained the applications of DevOps across cloud computing, web platforms, and enterprise systems.

A DevOps tool for code hosting and integration was demonstrated, highlighting pipeline automation. Kubernetes was explained in detail, covering orchestration, deployment, load balancing, and auto-scaling. Students actively participated in an interactive Q&A session focusing on DevOps concepts and real-time applications.

Practical industry use cases were discussed to enhance understanding. The resource person also shared learning resources and preparation tips for placement readiness. Activities included question-and-answer sessions and discussions to assess student knowledge. Overall, the workshop successfully enhanced awareness of DevOps practices and their relevance in industry applications.
