SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Workshop on Building a minimal APIs using .NET

The Department of MCA organised a workshop on 8th December 2025 on Building Minimal APIs using .NET. The resource person for the session was Mr Tapan Dahal, Associate Software Engineer at Sysfore Technology Pvt Ltd, Bangalore. The workshop aimed to introduce the fundamentals of Low-Code/No-Code development and to highlight the differences between these approaches and traditional coding methods.

Students were provided with hands-on experience using the SKYÉ Low-Code Platform to design, build, and deploy functional web applications. The session demonstrated real-time application development, including data modelling and interface creation. It encouraged innovation by simplifying the software development process and empowering students to convert their ideas into working prototypes.

The content of the workshop focused on explaining Minimal APIs and their distinction from controller-based API development. Participants learned how to set up the development environment, configure endpoints, and understand concepts such as routing, dependency injection, and middleware. The resource person also demonstrated how to connect APIs to a database using Entity Framework Core.

In addition, techniques for validation, error handling, and basic security were discussed in detail. A complete walkthrough of building a functional Minimal API project was provided, with emphasis on clean architecture, performance, and deployment considerations. The expert explained the purpose and advantages of Minimal APIs in simplifying development while ensuring efficiency.

Attendees gained insight into efficient endpoint definition and the integration of routing, data access, and middleware. Hands-on demonstrations guided them through the construction of a working API based on real-world scenarios. The session concluded by highlighting how Minimal APIs accelerate development while maintaining clarity, scalability, and performance.
