Guest Talk on SQL Azure Database


The Department of MCA organised a guest talk on 10th January 2026 to strengthen students’ understanding of relational database concepts and SQL through practical illustrations using Azure SQL Database. The session familiarised students with the architecture, features, and advantages of Azure SQL Database over traditional on-premise systems. It aimed to bridge academic concepts with industry practices by demonstrating real-world use cases using cloud-based relational databases.
Students also gained exposure to industry-oriented environments that reinforced the foundational SQL knowledge from their DBMS syllabus. A brief profile of the speaker, Ms. Vijayalakshmi R. Madrasi, Software Development Engineer at Cubic Logics India Pvt. Ltd., shared her views highlighting her expertise in modern application development and web technologies.
The session covered key themes such as an overview of Azure SQL Database, its architecture, and core database and table concepts within Azure. It also included demonstrations of essential SQL operations and emphasised the importance of data security, integrity, and reliability in cloud platforms. These discussions helped students clearly understand how traditional SQL principles are applied in a modern cloud ecosystem.
The talk enhanced their comprehension of database creation, management, and performance considerations in Azure SQL Database. Overall, the session boosted student confidence, deepened conceptual learning, and encouraged them to explore advanced cloud and database technologies in their future studies.
