Objective:

The expert talk was conducted

  • To provide an overview of Clinical Data Management
  • To give an insight on the different roles in CRO
  • To know what kind of data to be collected and the need for validation.
  • To prepare summary using Medidata Rave

Content:

Prof. S. P. Sreeja, Sr. Asst.  Professor, Department of MCA organized the Expert Talk on “Exploring Clinical Data Management in Contract Research Organization” on 20th May, 2022 for I semester MCA students.

Prof. S. P. Sreeja introduced and welcomed the speaker, Mr. Pramod N, working as Programmer in Labcorp. The session has started with the introduction to Contract Research Organization.

The speaker gave the overview of Clinical Data Management, the various role plays in the organization. Importance of statistics in analyzing the collected data with various graphs is depicted. What kind of data to be collected and the need for validation in a medical field.

The speaker also demonstrated the data for a specific disease and how to summarize it with the survey data and analyse it for proper identification using the tool medidata Rave-a cloud–based clinical data management system which used to capture, manage, and report clinical research data electronically.

The session was ended with vote of thanks and the speaker was felicitated by Prof. S. P. Sreeja with memento as a token of appreciation.

Outcome:

  • The expert talk was very useful for all participants to know the importance of Clinical Data Management. The students were getting an insight on different roles in CRO, collection of data and need for validation, usage of Medidata Rave.
