Profile of the Speaker:
Dr. Reshmy Krishnan has 29 years of academic experience and is currently working as the Head of Research at Muscat College, Sultanate of Oman. After obtaining her Ph.D. in 2005 in Computer Science and Engineering, She did her Postdoctoral Fellowship from the University of Stirling in 2013 and achieved an Associate fellowship in Teaching & Learning from Higher Education Academy, the UK in the year 2019.
She is a program reviewer with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation (MoHERI) in Oman, a member of the Board of Directors with Oman Association for Quality in Higher Education (QAQHE), Ph.D. supervisor in Govt & Private Universities in India, and advisory board member in various Colleges and Universities in Oman. She acted as an advisory board member in Indian Schools, Oman between 2018 and 2020.
Dr. Reshmy was presented the “Best National Research Award” in 2014 from Research Council, Oman, the “Distinguished woman in Engineering Award” in the year 2018, the “woman Icon India Global Award” in 2019 by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the “Distinguished educator & Scholar award” in 2020. Dr. Reshmy Krishnana has thirteen research-funded projects, eleven indexed book chapters, and 418 publication citations in her research profile. She is the reviewer of international journals and Ph.D. thesis from national and International Universities. She has organized around 25 conferences and workshops at the national and international levels and acted as a resource person and keynote speaker in more than 60 seminars, conferences, and faculty development programs at the national and international levels. She has initiated more than 15 community services in Oman.
Dr. Reshmy is the founder of the Global women’s group named ‘wings of women’s world’ for women empowerment which has regional groups in ten countries and 150 members. She runs her own media production ‘Raw and Real’ for educational shows, interviews, and other exclusive programs on social media.
Objective:
The main objective of this session is to introduce the concepts of AI, Machine Learning and Deep Learning with their practical implications in real-time applications.
Content:
The following topics are covered in the session: An evolution of AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Simulation of the human brain with its working principle, and Implications of Deep Learning in real-time applications with their benefits.
The session focused on the importance of AI and Machine Learning models in making decision-making process. The transition of Deep Learning with Artificial Neural networks (ANN) has been described with its working principle. The functionality of the brain and its relation in the deep learning model building model has been emphasized with example data. The session highlighted the impact of deep learning in the current teaching-learning process with its importance and future scope.
