Alumni Talk on Simple Steps to UX Mastery

The Department of MCA organised an Alumni Talk on “Simple Steps to UX Mastery” on 13-12-2025. The event aimed to introduce students to the core principles of User Experience design and its relevance in modern digital product development. Mr. Mohammed Yasin Harun, Research Engineer – Software Developer 3 at Oracle Cerner, Bengaluru, served as the resource person. He delivered an insightful session emphasising user-centred thinking, structured UX processes, and industry best practices. The talk covered essential topics such as user behaviour research, empathy mapping, persona creation, and defining user requirements. Students were guided through stages of the UX design process, including ideation, wireframing, prototyping, and usability evaluation. Mr. Harun highlighted principles of usability, accessibility, and visual consistency in creating intuitive digital interfaces. Short explanatory videos were used to illustrate real-world UX challenges and effective design strategies. The speaker explained how user research forms the foundation of meaningful design decisions. Case-based videos showcased examples of navigation design and usability improvements in digital products.

The session also stressed the importance of collaboration between designers, developers, and product teams. Students received guidance on career pathways and steps to begin building UX competencies. An interactive Q&A allowed participants to clarify concepts related to research methods, design scalability, and real-world UX workflows. A hands-on activity encouraged students to analyse UX scenarios, identify user needs, and propose user-centred solutions. The event concluded successfully with active participation from 45 students and valuable mentoring support from the resource person
