Objective : April 30th , 2022, 09:30 a.m. through Google meet we had an Expert Talk session on
“Use of AWS S3 and CloudFront services” which was conducted by Mr.Vijay S. This program was hosted by the Department of MCA, NHCE. It was held for students of MCA – 1st, 4th and 6th semester students to get insights on the usage of AWS S3 and CloudFront.
We were introduced to AWS S3 as the session began. AWS S3 provides object storage through a web service interface. Customers of all sizes and industries can use Amazon S3 to store and protect any amount of data for a range of use cases, such as data lakes, websites, mobile applications, backup and restore, archive, enterprise applications, IoT devices, and big data analytics. He took us along with the cool features of AWS S3 like storage classes, storage and access management, data processing, analytics and insight. Live example of AWS S3 was shared with us. Mr. Vijay created a bucket, added objects to that bucket, search for an object using key and explained various bucket policy. Speaker was interactive and students were engaged answering to his questions and asking queries.
For the second half of the session, we learnt about CloudFront. It retrieves data from Amazon S3 bucket and distributes it to multiple datacenter locations. It delivers the data through a network of data centers called edge locations. CloudFront uses geo location to retrieve data from closest data center, helping to reduces latentancy. Speaker taught us how to set up our own AWS s3 and CloudFront set up for free. The session was concluded by listing out perks and draw backs of these technologies.
Conclusion:
The session was very effective and helped in understanding the industrial requirement of AWS and CloudFront. WeLearn how new technologies can be implemented for the betterment of any company, how to cope and adapt the technological changes. Overall, the session was an eye opener and let students discover a new tool that can be used practically.
