SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS
Workshop on Emerging Applications of Data Structures in Technology

The Department of MCA organised a workshop on “Emerging Applications of Data Structures in Technology” on 13 June 2026 at the MCA Lab. Mr Mohammed Yasin Harun, Senior Software Engineer, Oracle Cerner, Bangalore conducted the session.
The workshop highlighted the significance of data structures in modern computing and emerging technological domains such as Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems. Participants gained valuable insights into how efficient data organisation contributes to optimised algorithms, scalable software solutions, and real-time decision-making processes.
The resource person elaborated on the role of tree data structures in hierarchical data representation, database indexing, and file system management. Students also explored graph data structures and their applications in modelling relationships, social networks, and navigation systems.
Practical demonstrations showcased the functioning of Binary Search Trees and B-Trees for efficient searching, insertion, and data management. Hands-on activities enabled students to construct and traverse binary search trees and represent graphs using adjacency matrices and adjacency lists.
Interactive discussions focused on algorithm efficiency, searching techniques, path-finding methods, and computational problem-solving strategies. Participants analysed various scenarios to identify suitable tree and graph structures for effective solution design.
The workshop enhanced students’ understanding of industry-relevant applications of data structures and strengthened their analytical abilities. Overall, the event provided valuable exposure to real-world technological applications and reinforced the importance of trees and graphs in software development and computing innovation.
