Guest Lecture on Insights on Cyber Measures



The Department of MCA organised a guest talk on 31 January 2026, featuring Mr Vedanth Ramachandran, Workforce Management Scheduling Analyst at Amazon India Centre, Bengaluru. The session aimed to create awareness about current cyber threats and risks in the digital landscape, while introducing students to essential cybersecurity measures and best practices for safer online behaviour.
Mr Vedanth explained the growing importance of cybersecurity in an increasingly technology-driven world. He discussed common threats such as phishing, malware, ransomware, and data breaches, highlighting their impact on both individuals and organisations. The speaker emphasised strong password practices, multi-factor authentication, and secure network usage as key protective strategies.
Students also learned about the safe handling of emails, responsible use of social media, and secure online transactions. The session stressed the importance of maintaining cyber hygiene in both personal and professional environments, encouraging a proactive approach to digital safety.
In addition, Mr Vedanth introduced participants to basic incident prevention and response techniques. He highlighted the role of individuals and organisations in fostering a secure digital ecosystem and briefly covered cyber laws along with mechanisms available for reporting cyber incidents.
Overall, the session provided practical insights and equipped students with essential knowledge to safeguard their data, systems, and online activities.
